Estuary

                                   What is a catchment?

A catchment is where all the rain water is collected. A catchment      collects the water from the hills and mountains surrounding it.

This is the Porirua harbour and catchment.

Mysterious Morning

16/9/2016

Last week I wrote a piece of moment in time writing.
It was about the early morning at what was going on.

The morning sky turned into a fiery orange, and pigmented purple colour
as the sun rose from behind the lime green trees. I could see noisy seagulls
sailing across the sky and people going for a morning jog. I wondered where
the smell of bacon was coming from because it was making my stomach rumble.
The morning became very cold and misty. The wind sounded like it was howling my name.
WOOSHH! The trees were moving from side to side in a very violent way.

Camp

                                                                        Camp

Camp was a very exciting and scary experience. We did lots of fun activities.

In this photo we had just got on the ferry and we were in groups of 3 or 4 walking around with our leader.
Here a group is standing outside and are very excited about the trip. While we were on the way to Picton some people threw up or had a sore stomach. I was not one of those people I was feeling just fine.
If you got sick you would get a sick bag and would stand leaning on the side barrier.

This photo was taken 1 and a half hours after we started our big walk to Golden Beach. This was the first beach it is called Apple Tree Bay, as you can see on the sign that Joselani and Andrew are leaning on. By now our legs would have started hurting but we knew that they would have started hurting even more by the time we got to the Golden Bay. While this photo was being taken everybody else was either eating or playing around in the sand with their group of friends.

This was the end result of our 3 hour walk. Mostly everybody was swimming and splashing in the cold clear ocean. This is me and Sarah G after she splashed me with the freezing water ( I look really unhappy).
While some people were swimming and resting there muscles, most of the boys and a few male parent helpers were playing rugby in the water. After the water got to cold I went and started playing sand tag with Oceana and Taylah.

This is what our water taxi looked like. I had to wear my wet shorts and my swimming top because they were waiting for me and a few other people. When we were about to go we took a few photos so that we could remember this moment and keep lots of memories with our closest friends. I was really tired and wanted to fall asleep on the taxi but then I heard that we were aloud to go up to the top of the taxi and so i stayed up. Would you have stayed up???

Ahhhhhh! I was finally aloud to board on to the top of the taxi. The view was gorgeous and we were surrounded by beautiful scenery and blue water. "Say cheese" Mrs Nui said softly. I wasn't ready for her to take the photo and showed it today at assemble. I could feel the breeze flowing smoothly through my hair and enjoyed the piece and quiet.

Thump,Thump. That was the sound of peoples hearts as they were getting ready to climb
down the abseiling wall. I out of all people got forced because I didn't want to go down
but then because Te Koha didn't either I finally thought that I should go down. It took me
a few minutes to build up my confidence. When i decided to go down my heart was racing
fast. I wanted to get off while I was going down but then I realized that was nearly at the bottom.
When I had arrived at the bottom and landed on the dirty bark I felt good. This is a photo of
Jordan while she was going down.

OMG!!! This was my favourite activity. It was the swimming pool. We had the choice of
the swimming pool because the downhill carts course was too muddy. I enjoyed swimming
but the water was freezing cold. " I bet I can complete this obstacle" I whispered to Sarah. "Ok
she said lets have a competition" Sarah said happily. So I waited for Daelin to finish. " GO DAELIN" I shouted loudly. Daelin fell off but we all just laughed. It was my turn and I felt really excited and scared at the sametime. I ran off on to the slippery surface and ended up wet head to toe from falling in. " yea Sophia yelled Sarah. It was Sarah's and she fell in srtaight away!! I nearly cried because of how hard I laughed. It was nearly time to get out of the pool and by then I had completed the obstacle about 5 times.

This was my least favourite activity. It was rock climbing. I disliked rock climbing because it was really high and I don't enjoy heights. I managed to complete the climbing all the way to the top. Not many people had completed it but I was happily one of the people that had. This is Phoenix. I was not in her group but I bet she tried her best. I felt scared because I thought that I would fall. I eventually reached the blue button an smashed it with my fist. I tried my hardest and achieved what I thought I couldn't.
Splish, Splash!!! " come on guys we have to be the first team to complete this". We were on to our final activity before it was lunch time. The activity was Team Building with Matua Lindsey and Ruth (Skye's mum). The first thing we had to do was try and move all the blocks to make a volcano but only being aloud to move on block/platform at a time. We struggled at this and so did the other team. Eventually Matua Lindsey and Ruth said that was enough because nobody had completed it. So we got moved to our next objective..... It was to move a can of water on a flat platform and pretend that it was toxic acid. It was hard but we used team work and ended up being the first group to complete it. We were all very glad and all hugged each other. I felt worn out by the end and then the hooter went for lunch.

This is Jahvana doing archery. Jahvana hit the blue which means she got 50 points. I am left handed so I had my own bow. I also had it to myself because nobody else in my group was. We started off practicing and then we headed in to the competition. It was boys vs girls. I was second in line after Taylah. Taylah shot and hoped to get a bullseye but missed and instead got a yellow. It was my turn and while I was getting ready to shoot I thought to myself " I can do this lets at least get blue". Instead I got better I got a white. I was filled with joy but sadly we still lost. The boys were happy but didn't show off and we were happy about that.

UGHHHHHH!! " can we please stop Mrs Dodson" I asked as we were walking up the hill for fitness that morning. We were all still tired because of what had happened the night before and because it was the day that we were leaving for Wellington. I nearly cried because of how sore my legs were. This is a picture of us once we had reached the top of the hill. It was a bit cold at first but then we warmed up because it was a hard walk... I wish we could go back.
